Did you know that you can use aromatherapy for acne? Ahh, yes, the dreaded acne. For your average teenager it’s horrifying, as an adult it’s quite a nuisance. I mean really… didn’t you think you were past that stage once you became an adult?
Acne is usually the result of excess accumulation of dirt and sebum in the pores and hair follicles. This in turn provides a feeding ground for bacteria which causes the skin to become inflamed with a pus-like infection (yuck!). Acne is also caused by hormonal changes in your body which causes an overproduction of fat in the sebaceous glands. Stress could also be a factor.
Because of pure essential oil’s ability to kill bacteria, and dissolve sebum it is great for treating acne. An added aromatherapy benefit is that certain essential oils can be used to relieve stress that also can be a culprit to the dreaded pimple.
The following essential oils are helpful to use when blending aromatherapy for acne:
Bergamot
Blue cypress
Calendula
Carrot Seed
Chamomile (German & Roman)
Clove
Eucalyptus
Geranium
Lavender
Myrrh
Neroli
Palma rosa
Patchouli
Rosewood
Tea tree
Yarrow
